Summertime!

Summertime has begun! I cannot believe it's been 3 whole months since I last posted. Wait a minute...who am I kidding??? Of course it has. I am a bit slow on the latest posting. I guess with Facebook these days, I figure everyone can keep up with my life there.
I have had a great start to summer vacation! My dear friend, Melinda Allshouse Slattery came to visit me. Her family is adorable. We had so much fun catching up and reminiscing!
The boys are enjoying their summer vacation as well. Joel and Evan spent a week in North Carolina at the beach at my sister in laws house. My wonderful mother in law took them down there with her when school let out. It was quiet around here with just Nathan and Greg. Nathan had school for another week after Joel and Evan. He is now officially a Sophomore in High School. Yikes. that hurts just typing it. ;)
We have spent the last week doing fun things with the Slattery family. We walked all over D.C. and spent some quality time with the family. We did Ft. McHenry and Gettysburg too. Lots of history learning. With 10 kids in the house it was pretty amazing that the four adults found time to go out and enjoy dinner. I guess those are the benefits of having teenagers. ;) I have added a pic of all the kids together. I still can't believe that my friend and I are even old enough to have teenagers. After all, we met when we were 13.
Until next time....who knows, it just might be Fall or Winter??? hahaha.....

Baby, It's Cold OUTSIDE!

It is COLD! I cannot take much more of Winter! I just want Spring to come! I love warm summer days. It was 14 degrees this morning with a wind chill to make it only feel like 9 degrees! That is insane! I think I may be moving somewhere tropical soon.

On a lighter note... I have to just say this Facebook thing is so fun! I have 'reconnected' with quite a few old friends. Friends from high school (Hi John Roberts!), friends from another country, friends that I dated, friends that I worked with. It has been great catching up with everyone. The only thing I don't like is waiting for the 'acceptance' of their friendship. You know what I am talking about...the 'friend request'. haha. It is so awkward and nobody likes to be rejected. I always wonder if that person will even remember me! I hesitate everytime I hit the send button. Does anyone else feel this way? of course you do! At least I hope you do. I am not really afraid to 'talk' to someone I might know, I just want them to remember me so I don't sound like a total stalker. haha
And I know people who are 'stalkers' on facebook! It is fantastic! Thankfully, I haven't met a 'stalker' I didn't like. :) And now my husband has Facebook. I just laugh when I read what he posts and then sometimes I still feel like a jealous teenager when I see that he has 'friended' an old flame. haha. (I wasnt really the jealous type, I am only kidding) Greg has many friends and he should. He is funny! It's fun to see him enjoying Facebook.
Not much else happening around here. Just stokin fires, shoveling snow, and freezing my tail off!
It's time to get some laundry finished. Glad to have updated the blog. I hope to update it more often. My friend told me that the more I update it, the more my friends will read it. Hmm. She does have a point there!

too old for i love yous???!!!!!

i_love_you

Well, last night was a sad night for this Mommy of 3 boys. (Little bit of background first.) I work at the kids school in the front office. I get the joy of seeing them walk through the school and am able to say hello. My 8th grader usually greets me with a slight wave and I acknowledge back with the same kind of wave or just a nice smile. not too much to embarrass him of course. wink wink...and the twins..well they are still at that age where you can blow them kisses and send 'i love you' signs.
SO I THOUGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last night I asked Joel if he saw me give him the I love you sign in sign language as we walked by my office. He said yessssssssss i did....(rolling his eyes the whole time) I asked why he wasnt happy about it. He said that I embarrassed him in front of his friends. the NERVE!! how dare i?? he didnt say those words, but that is what i was thinking. I asked why it embarrassed him and he said because we dont do that anymore, mom! we are 7 now!

haha...he is so funny. he said it so matter of factly too. so, i guess i am left to waving to the sweet little kindergarteners who love the attention. boo hoo. i will leave now and have the pity party i feel i deserve. :)
